Sequence Surf Shop is locally owned and operated by brother and sister team Blair Stewart and Sonia Keepa. Being Gisborne born and breed Blair and Sonia were brought up with a strong surfing influence which paved the way for their future careers.

Blair took an interest in surfing from as young as the age of eight and began competitive surfing at 12 years old. Blair’s competitive surfing grew and saw him spending time in Australia on the Junior Competitive Circuit. From the junior circuit Blair then moved full time onto the World Qualifying Series traveling the world from contest to contest for 7 years. With more than a decade of seasons in Hawaii Blair’s focus began to change with the lure and challenge of finding and riding big waves. Another door presented itself with the opening of Sequence Surf Shop in April 2004.

Big sister Sonia was no slouch is the waves herself claiming the Gisborne School Girls title while at High School. Sonia went on to have an involvement in the Gisborne Boardriders Club and Surfing New Zealand with fitness training junior surfers at national and international levels. With a career path presenting itself at Billabong NZ Sonia moved to Auckland and spent 8 years gaining valuable experience with one of the world leaders in the Surfing Industry. Managing the Billabong Girls Branding and Sales set Sonia up with valuable skills and knowledgeable insight into the changing trends and market placement of the Surfwear Industry.
